Amy Yu, M.Ed., BCBA – Behaviour Consultant/Program Manager
Amy Yu found her way into the field of Applied Behaviour Analysis and fell in love with it almost immediately. While she was completing her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Cognitive Systems, a Psychology major from University of British Columbia, she took a part-time position as a behaviour interventionist under the direct supervision of Judy Bui. Her favourite part of working with children is the fact that each child is unique, and each comes with their own challenges and joy. Over the years, Amy has gained experience working with children with and without disabilities in various settings such as camps, schools, preschools and at home between the ages of 2 and 13 years old.
Following her bachelor’s education, Amy pursued a certificate in Applied Behaviour Analysis to further her knowledge of ABA. Amy completed her Master of Special Educations with a concentration in ABA at the University of Washington in 2017. Amy is a Board Certified Behaviour Analysis (BCBA) and is fluent in both English and Mandarin.
In her role as a Behaviour Analyst and Program Manager with PLG, Amy utilizes a variety of teaching methodologies such as Precision Teaching, Discrete Trial Training, Direct Instruction and Natural Environment Teaching within her program. She is most passionate about feeding interventions, toileting programs and decreasing aggressive behaviours. She maintains membership with British Columbia Association of Applied Behaviour Analysis and Association for Behaviour Analysis International.
Outside of her work, she enjoys spending time with her dog Elfin, discovering new places to eat and watching movies.
